Tactical Identity
The Winged Hussar is a **trash unit that punches above its weight**. The melee armor and gunpowder bonus make it uniquely effective against Imperial Age compositions that rely on Hand Cannoneers.

Gunpowder Counter
With +4 vs Gunpowder, Winged Hussars are surprisingly effective against Hand Cannoneers. Dive in, take a volley, and kill them before they reload.
Enhanced Survivability
1 Melee Armor doesn't sound like much, but it adds up. Against other cavalry or infantry, you take less damage per hit, winning more trades.
Civ Synergy
Poles get extra gold from stone, fueling a Knight/Winged Hussar mix. Lithuanians get Relic bonuses that buff all cavalry including Winged Hussars.
Critical Point
Still dies to **Halberdiers** like regular Hussars. The melee armor doesn't help against their massive bonus damage.
Understanding The Stats
The Winged Hussar is the best version of the Scout line. Small stat improvements over the Hussar add up to a significantly stronger unit.
Extra HP
+5 HP over the Hussar. With Bloodlines, you reach 100 HP - a psychological threshold that makes you feel like a real cavalry unit.
Melee Armor
The only Scout-line unit with melee armor. Against Knights and other melee units, this reduces damage taken by 1 per hit.
Gunpowder Killer
Hand Cannoneers have 35 HP. You deal 13 damage per hit (9 base + 4 bonus). Three hits and they're dead.
Superior Monk Counter
Even better than Hussar. You deal 23 damage to Monks - they die in 2 hits guaranteed.
Coach's Tip
You're the best trash cavalry in the game. 80 HP, 9 Attack, 1 Melee Armor - these are near-Knight stats for a trash unit. Play aggressively knowing you win most trash-on-trash fights.
