Castle
Military - CastleDescription
"Powerful fortification that produces unique units and Trebuchets. Available from Castle Age, it is both a formidable defensive structure and a production building."
Strategic Analysis
Strategic Role
The Castle is the pinnacle of medieval fortification. It fires powerful arrows, produces your civilization's unique unit, and can hold an entire army in garrison. A well-placed Castle can single-handedly control an area of the map.
Key Tactics
Defensive Castles
Place Castles at choke points or near your Town Centers. A Castle covering your main gold can make your economy nearly unraidable.
Forward Castles (Castle Drop)
Build a Castle aggressively near the enemy base to pressure their economy. This risky play can win games if executed correctly.
Trebuchet Production
Trebuchets are the only units that can safely destroy enemy Castles. Always have Trebuchets ready for late-game siege.
Unique Unit Mass
Your civilization's unique unit is often extremely powerful. Multiple Castles enable mass production of these game-changing units.
Warning
Castles require 650 stone. Secure stone mines early and consider buying stone from the Market if needed.
Stats Analysis
The Castle is the most powerful building in the game with 4800 HP, high armor, and devastating arrow fire. A fully garrisoned Castle can repel most attacks.
Hit Points
4800 HP
Massive health pool. Only Trebuchets, Bombard Cannons, and massed siege can take down a Castle efficiently.
Arrow Damage
11 Base
Castle arrows deal 11 damage with +9 bonus vs rams and +0 vs buildings. Additional garrisoned units add more arrows.
Garrison Capacity
20 Units
Can shelter 20 units. Each additional unit beyond 5 adds another arrow, up to 20 total arrows.
Line of Sight
11 Tiles
Excellent vision range. Castles provide great map awareness and can spot incoming attacks early.
Stone Cost
650 Stone
Very expensive. Plan your stone economy carefully to afford Castles.

Placement Tip
Place Castles to cover key resources, choke points, or your production area. In 1v1, a single well-placed Castle can win the game.
Timing Tip
Build your first Castle upon reaching Castle Age if you have enough stone. Prioritize Castle placement over additional Town Centers if you're under pressure.
